Music Merit Awards

Been wanting to take a course or workshop to improve your playing skills? Learn how to be a more effective volunteer? Learn something else that will help you help the NBCMS achieve its mission of "Promoting, preserving and presenting Bluegrass music for its members and the public"?

Each fiscal year the NBCMS Executive will allocate $2,000 to the NBCMS Music Merit Awards fund. Allocation of funds will occur in January and June. A minimum of $1,000 will be available at each funding time.

The Music Merit Awards Panel may recommend awarding all, some or none of the monies to all, some or none of the eligible applicants. The amount(s) of each individual award is subject to the criteria and the discretion of the Panel. At no time will an individual award exceed $1,000 nor will the total amount of all awards exceed funding available for that funding period.

Do NOT MISS This OPPORTUNITY
Bluegrass Circle Showcase June 8, 2008
Hosted by the Northern Bluegrass Circle Music Society

The Northern Bluegrass Circle Music Society offers its members in Bluegrass bands an opportunity to perform at a beautiful venue with professional sound and stage crews.*

The Northern Bluegrass Circle Music Society achieves its mandate (to preserve, promote and present Bluegrass Music) with a multitude of activities including jamming, workshops, jam camps, celebrations, concerts, music merit awards, and donations.

The large number of participants from listeners to professional musicians that attend our events is evidence of the success and robustness of the organization.

Many local bluegrass bands met and began within the walls of our Wednesday night jam.

This year the NBCMS proudly hosts it's first ever Bluegrass Circle Showcase and is privileged to highlight our members' Bluegrass Bands in the beautiful  Shell Theatre located in the Sherritt Cultural Pavilion, Dow Centennial Centre, Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.

Club members may apply to perform at this event. (Interested non-members may wish to join the club.) The NBCMS will invite Bluegrass promoters from across Western Canada to attend this monumental event and experience the expertise of our members, friends and supporters.

All interested parties please contact Carolyn Hotte,  hottecarolyn@hotmail.com
or by telephone at (780) 922-4204 by April 15th. Please include your Band name, performers and performance history.

*Because of time restrictions, not all groups may be accepted.

If you would like to add your Edmonton and area bluegrass event, email the details to noel@mcnaughton.ca

We all have skills and knowledge to contribute to the club and what better way to do that than to sit on the board which meets monthly for about one to two hours on a circle night. It's a small commitment to show your support. Contact any of the board members for more information on how you may become involved.
