9th Avenue All Stars
“Hand Crafted Old School Bluegrass” – that’s what you’re going to get with this group of fellas. They came together during a band residency at the Ironwood Stage and Grill in Calgary. Over many years and many performances, the 9th Ave Allstars have solidified their unique sound with tight pickin’, heartfelt harmonies, and crowd-pleasing energy.
This close group of friends brings a load of experience to the bluegrass table. Fred Mallette on banjo is a veteran of Calgary and area, folk clubs, music festivals, and pubs. Al LaMonaca on guitar/dobro is a longtime friend of the Alberta bluegrass scene performing with other groups such as Crooked Path. Dale Ulan is doghouse bass specialist and doubles as a recording engineer and electronics specialist. And Bruce Rohn on fiddle is a road veteran touring with a variety of county and bluegrass acts.
We are pleased to have them join us for the first time at RiverCity Bluegrass. They are sure to deliver a special set of tunes that will feel both familiar and fresh. Plus, they are promising to bring with them a new EP of originals.
