Happy Trails, Prospector

RiverCity Bluegrass Festival - Happy Trails, Prospector

We are thankful this group is back on the trail and offering their happy blend of bluegrass, old-time, and classic country. This collection of characters are much celebrated in Edmonton circles, with their unique blast of diverse, yet cohesive, musical energy.

Patrick “Patty” Hamilton on driving guitar is as diverse as it comes thanks to his Yukon musical roots.  Sister Sarah Hamilton, also raised in Whitehorse by professional musicians, brings the swing and old-time fiddle sensibilities.  And who doesn’t love twin fiddles? That second crisp fiddle and sweet tenor is provided by our favourite Barrel Boy,  Nathan “Nathe” Smith, who hails from North Bay and now Smiths Falls, Ontario. Then there’s much-loved Miles Zurawell, who is no stranger to the Edmonton/Ardrossan bluegrass scene, this time on his 5-string banjo. And finally, taking time out from touring with Special Consensus and making one of his return trips from New York, is our own Nico Humby on bass.

This five-piece group is a genuine Canadian mosaic of influences.  They will surely be a piece of solid gold at this year’s RiverCity.
