The Lost Prospectors
Hailing from the golden foothills of Southern Alberta, this group delivers a solid bluegrass repertoire. These five self-described “lads” tell the story of roaming through various musical experiences only to realize that true fortune was the pure fun of playing and singing with each other and performing their 24 Karat brand of classic and contemporary bluegrass music.
With multiple awards under his belt, Charles Holley, on guitar is a road veteran with the likes of Showdown (Garry Lee), Honky-Tonk Heroes, Silver Creek Band, and several musical forays in the BC interior. Then there’s Brian Fukushima, a much-loved Alberta bluegrass jammer, who hasn’t put the banjo down since he heard first heard Bela Fleck at the Calgary Folk Festival many years ago. On mandolin is Tim Babey, who’s been performing in the Calgary area for more than 40 years and operates the Millarville General Store in his spare time. Then there’s our favourite rocker turned bluegrasser, Bill Jackson on bass, who has been panning bluegrass rivers in Alberta for many years -- and definitely looks the part. Finally, rounding out the quintet is Bruce Rohn on fiddle who has been performing in the Calgary Bluegrass music scene for decades.
This band has been a loyal supporter of RiverCity Bluegrass over the past three years, and we are pleased that they would travel up the QEII once again to perform on the mainstage and host a jam or two.
