Pythagoras
This band came together in a sweltering East Tennessee dorm room, and we are sure Pythagoras will turn up the heat at RiverCity. These musicians know their traditional bluegrass math but they also like throwing in fresh and contemporary angles. Now from Johnson City, these musicians hail from the east coast and into the mid-west including Grant Dresnok (Maine) on guitar, Gracie Grossman (Indiana) on fiddle, Joe Henson (Georgia) on mandolin, Lexi Wagnitz (New Hampshire) on upright bass, and the Canadian - Gabriel Hebert (New Brunswick) on banjo.
In 2024, the band recorded and released their debut album, Theorem, and then embarked an international tour with 50 dates including the Westport Folk Festival in Ireland. Their sophomore year was equally stunning including an appearance at the prestigious Grey Fox Bluegrass festival in New York this last summer. Their relentless drive and ability to connect with audiences have quickly earned Pythagoras a reputation as one of the most exciting young bands in bluegrass today.
By the way, “Pythagoras” pays homage to the infamous bluegrass theory as explained by legendary festival organizer Carlton Haney. There’s your homework; now sharpen your pencils!
