Bluegrass Tradition
In what has become a RiverCity tradition, we are once again reaching across the continent to present another special band from Nova Scotia. Bluegrass Tradition has been performing for over 20 years, sharing their love of traditional Bluegrass Music with audiences in the Maritimes and now beyond. Co-founders of this band are husband and wife Trevor Boutilier and Karen DeCoste. Together they have received many awards including Band of the Year, Gospel Group of the Year and Vocal Group of the Year at the East Coast Bluegrass Music Awards. Trevor has earned his master's recognition for mandolin performance, while Karen has been honored with a master's recognition as Female Vocalist of the Year and Composer of the Year. Their deep commitment to bluegrass is underlined by their founding the Downeast Bluegrass & Old Time Music Society which puts on the outstanding Nova Scotia Bluegrass & Old Time Music festival every July.
Trevor and Karen are joined with long time friend and musician Ryan Dillman on banjo and vocals. RiverCity fans will recognize Ryan from his crowd-pleasing performances last year with Common Ground. He has been playing music since he was 8 years old and has won many awards with his driving rhythm and vocals shaped by hardcore influences such as Earl Scruggs, JD Crowe, and Allan Munde. Also joining is Chris Leslie on fiddle and vocals who started his fiddle journey at age 7, placing 5th at the Canadian Old Time Fiddle Open at age 12 and then become a regular Grand Masters invitee. He has also recorded in Nashville and has toured extensively throughout Canada, USA, and Australia.
RiverCity fans are in for a traditional treat of pure bluegrass energy and a professional stage performance that will take you back in time and create sweet new memories.
