Howie is no stranger to the Wednesday jam and always takes us up a notch or two when he walks in with his vintage Martin. That’s because Howie is no stranger to the stage as a professional musician. Living in the Kimberly area, he worked in the 80’s with rock and roll bands such as Trammer and later with a couple of top-flight dance bands called Sensation and the Rockin’ TBirds. With family life intervening, he has more recently returned to the stage at festivals, bars and night clubs with friends, Jake Buckley, Mike Stack, and Maddie Storvold.
It’s true Howie is often seen on stage with an electric guitar, but his passion is acoustic bluegrass, and he is delighted to share with the club some of his flatpicking insights. In this intermediate workshop, the focus will be on cross picking concepts, patterns, and rolls. Howie looks forward to sharing various ideas and musical anecdotes that he has gathered on his musical journey.
